“Stealing the show” at the Halle Orchestra

Pamela Hay I’ve just returned from a great night with the Halle Orchestra at the Bridgewater Hall. In their “Last Night of the Halle Proms” concert I sang songs by Rimsky-Korsakov, Gounod, Gershwin and Bernstein, and had a blast leading the singing of “Jerusalem” and “Rule Britannia”.

This review was out in today’s Oldham Evening Chronicle: “I was particularly enamored by soprano Pamela Hay’s idiosyncratic rendition of Leonard Bernstein’s “Glitter and Be Gay” from Candide. For me, this stole the show, it was simply exceptional.”

Halle Orchestra debut

I’ve been invited to make my debut with the Halle Orchestra, as soloist in their closing concert of the season. Conducted by Stephen Bell, I will sing arias and songs by Rimsky Korsakov, Gounod, Bernstein and Gershwin in the “Last Night of the Halle Proms” concert at the Bridgewater Hall. “Blowing off the roof” of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra

Stephen Bell, Pamela Hay, Jamie MacDougallI had such fun in my debut with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra on Sunday. The “Summer of Love” concert was the closing concert of the orchestra’s season, and played to a sold-out City Hall under the fantastic baton of Stephen Bell.

The BBC SSO’s Twitter feed noted, “Pamela Hay just blew the roof off with Bernstein’s ‘Glitter and be Gay’ in the last concert of our Listen Here weekend! #stratosphericnotes”

You can hear the concert broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland this Sunday 3rd July at 17:05 pm, or listen online and click on “Listen Live.” It will also be available for listening for a further 7 days on the BBC iPlayer. The broadcast, on Jamie MacDougall’s “Classics Unwrapped” programme, will also feature an interview with me.
