Official selection! Excited to share my new film The Bang Straws (2021), in which I play The Voice Coach, will World Premiere at the 65th BFI London Film Festival @icalondon on Sat 16 October. The Bang Straws has also been shortlisted for the festival’s Short Film Award.
This film concludes Michelle Williams Gamaker’s series on Fictional Activism, this time exploring the casting discrimination of Anna May Wong in Sidney Franklin’s The Good Earth (1937), a film notorious for a white actor’s racist portrayal of a Chinese character.
